HTFN's Business Development Conference 2004 Is A Hit
Back to Press Room

The 2004 Business Development Conference hosted by HTFN Tennessee Member V.Alexander & Co., Inc. and WorldBridge Logistics, Inc. was a huge success. The event was held in Nashville Tennessee in the famous Gaylord Opryland hotel.

One of the main focuses of this year’s conference was sales and marketing. During the first business meeting the HTFN Chairman introduced Robert Stankus from the marketing firm of Robert Anthony Strategic Marketing and Design. The HTFN Chairman explained that HTFN hired a marketing firm to help HTFN have a consistent message and to be more visible in the global market place. Robert introduced himself and gave a brief background on his experience as well as his marketing firm’s experience. Members should be hearing from Robert over the next couple of months while he works with Corporate and the Sales and Marketing committee in forming a marketing and communication plan, which is scheduled to be presented at the Buenos Aires Conference.

Another focus of the conference was the usage of GlobeTrack. The membership had a detailed discussion to the benefits of GlobeTrack and whether or not HTFN should continue to use the software. Gene Gander from Fountainhead was present to answer questions and to assure the membership that the improvement of GlobeTrack is in the works (see the article on page 3) and will continue to improve with the membership’s input. The general consensus was that GlobeTrack is beneficial and the push for the next year is going to be getting a majority, if not all, of the membership successfully integrated with GlobeTrack.

The conference featured several excellent presentations that were not only informative but essential for today’s changing world. V.Alexander did a presentation on the changing rules and regulations of USA importing and exporting.

HTFN UAE did a follow-up to their San Francisco presentation on the ever changing state of business in Iraq and the Middle East. The other presentations included: Sales Tracker, presented by V. Alexander, the RFQ and Grievance processes, presented by HTFN New Jersey Director, and the Networking and Banta Success Story, presented by HTFN Ireland.

No conference is complete without the award’s ceremonies. The HTFN Chairman presented the President of HTFN Austria with an appreciation award for his service as the previous Chairman of the Board. The HTFN Chairman presented the President from HTFN France with an appreciation award for his efforts on the Sales and Marketing committee. At the dinner on Thursday night Jennie Fitzgerald, Managing Director, presented Mike Swett and David Swett from V.Alexander & Co., Inc. and WorldBridge Logistics, Inc. with an award of appreciation for all their time and effort in helping to plan the 2004 Business Development Conference. Jennie Fitzgerald, Managing Director, also announced the winners of the Success Story competition. They where presented as follows: 1st place HTFN Italy , 2nd place HTFN France , and 3rd place HTFN Ireland.

A lot was done during the three days of the 2004 Business Development Conference. Many decisions were made regarding the marketing of HTFN and the usage of GlobeTrack. There was also time set aside for networking and having fun. Thank you again to V.Alexander & Co., Inc. and WorldBridge Logistics, Inc. for hosting a successful and productive conference.
